Spring is definitely my favorite season. I love watching the trees bud and flowers bloom. It’s nicer on the coast than on the prairies, where the grass is still brown and there are no flowers or buds yet. Spring here means more sun, longer days, camping, beaches, walks in the forest, and so much more. It is even more special this year because it is Meredith’s first one, so everything really is new and fresh to her.
The weather has been fooling with us recently. The sun will come out, but by the time I’ve gotten Bebe and I both ready to go out, it will be pouring rain. It is off and on like that all day. I try to get out walking a lot, but I’m not always successful. There is a little local grocer about 20 minutes away so when we need groceries I’ll walk up there with Meredith in the mei tei.
Some friends and I went out for a walk this morning. It was cold for most of it, but we went to a playground and watched their kids play together while we chatted. Meredith fell asleep in the mei tei. When I got back to the car I assumed she’d wake up transferring to the car seat, but to my surprise I was able to very carefully transfer her. She woke up briefly but settled again without needing to nurse. When I got home I got her in the house still asleep in the car seat, and she slept for another hour. I have been able to transfer her into the house in her car seat before, but normally actually moving her (ie. from the mei tei to the car seat) wakes her up, and then she doesn’t go back to sleep again very easily. I wonder if that was a fluke or if she’s starting to be able to settle herself back down to sleep when she wakes up a little bit? Part of me is a bit sad if it’s the latter. She’s still so tiny, but she really is growing so much.
